Youth Theatre Internship

Strike A Light & GL4 are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable intern to join our team!

This internship is offered by Strike A Light (charity no. 1178449) and GL4. The Intern will be supporting the practical delivery of our weekly Youth Theatre sessions in Matson. The aim of the internship is also to provide opportunities to develop skills and learn more about facilitating, working with young people, performance and directing.

The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with young people, support the planning and creative process alongside the Youth Theatre leader, attend live performance events and help in the production of platform events.

GL4 are a community interest company based in Matson. We bring high quality theatre performances onto the estate, transforming as many community spaces as possible. We also have a youth participation programme with several different strands including the Youth Theatre.

Strike A Light are a Gloucester based organisation striving to make Gloucester a city with a vibrant culture for all. We programme theatre and dance shows and put on festivals and events in different venues around the city, including Gloucester Guildhall, schools, community centres, the cathedral and a car park rooftop! As well as weekly participation sessions and support of local performers.

Availabilty: Sessions are held on Tuesdays evenings in Matson.

Rate of pay: £8.21 per hour

This is an internship position and so you do not have to have lots of experience or have worked in this kind of role before. The aim of the internship is to provide an opportunity to develop your skills and help you in your future career, whilst supporting the Youth Theatre.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about this opportunity, excited at the prospect of supporting young people creatively and is interested in the kind of things we do.

We are particularly keen to hear from people living in Matson and/or people from BAME backgrounds.

This post is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
