CALL OUT FOR COMMUNITY DANCERS

Four day residency and performance opportunity in Gloucester for Spring 2016 with critically acclaimed national touring

company, Still House

Still House create communal animation of urban spaces.

This is a call out for up to 50 passionate and enthusiastic Gloucester performers to join us for a residency with Still House leading to a performance at the Strike A Light Festival, late night 23 April at a city centre rooftop location.

Who can apply?

We are looking for 50 people of all ages and abilities. If you love dance then you can apply. You don’t need to be trained but you do need to want to do it.

Who are Still House?

Still House create performance projects, mostly instigated by Dan Canham.

Through his company Dan Canham makes work across a variety of forms that include theatre, dance, events, film and audio-visual installation.

Dan is artistic director and chief investigator of Still House and he works collaboratively with a diverse range of practitioners.

It is performance as an attempt to make sense and meaning of the world; to discover the people with whom we share it; to facilitate the meeting of strangers in the live moment. It is performance that is at once exploratory and immediately felt. Guiding values and principles of the company include tenderness, heart, an attempt at sincerity, play, courage, joy, celebration the recognition of loss and the protection of innocence.

How much does it cost?

It’s only £10. This covers the four days residency and a ticket to the show. It’s really important to us that finance is no barrier to anyone. If £10 is a problem and you want to participate, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

When do I need to be available?

Rehearsals will take place on:

Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 April

Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 April

11am – 5pm

at Oxstalls Campus, University of Gloucestershire, Gloucester.

You need to arrive 15 minutes before the start of each session to warm up.

You must be available for rehearsal and performance on Saturday 23 April.

Please note, rehearsals will be held indoors, but the performance will be a late night, outdoor performance.

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL SESSIONS TO TAKE PART.
